Hardly Strictly Bluegrass – 2011
One of our most coveted San Francisco traditions is the, 'Hardly Strictly Bluegrass' music festival that takes place in Golden Gate Park each year. I would venture that this event is San Francisco's very own 'Mardi-Gras.' Warren Hellman, who passed away last year, was the innovative philanthropist who started this entire thing. Imagine a rich-man who decided to devote money to putting on a giant free concert each year with some of the best acts on the planet! Its pretty incredible and in the spirit of his generosity people try to have a good time – which is not difficult.
